LPSolve Languages

Welcome to this LPSolve Knowledge Base video. In this episode, we’ll look at how to change and manage the languages used by the program.

Language selection is available from the main menu in the Formulation window. LPSolve currently supports four base languages: English, Chinese, Spanish, and Portuguese. When you select a new language and click OK, the program updates all inputs and outputs to reflect that choice. Most labels, menus, and results will immediately display in the selected language. A small number of system error messages may still appear in English, but the majority of the interface is translated.

The translations used by LPSolve are derived from an Excel file named Translations.xlsx, which is located in your Documents folder. This file can be opened and edited by the user. Each row represents a translation key, with columns for the different languages. If you notice an incorrect or unclear translation—such as a Chinese entry related to directory setup—you can simply edit that cell and save the file.

Some translations are initially generated using automated translation tools, and while these are generally accurate, they may not be perfect in all cases. LPSolve allows you to refine these translations as needed. After making changes to the Excel file, return to the LPSolve main menu and select Update Translation Dictionary. This command rebuilds the internal language dictionary that the program uses and updates the language file stored by the application.

The updated translations will take effect the next time the program is started. This ensures that all language definitions are loaded cleanly and consistently across the interface.

That covers language selection and translation management in LPSolve. Thanks for watching, and be sure to explore the other LPSolve Knowledge Base videos to learn how to get the most from the program.
