Hello and welcome to Calf Notes Tools. My name is Jim Quigley, author of CalfNotes.com and Managing Director at Calf Notes Consulting. Since its inception, the goal of Calf Notes was to be a source of pertinent, noncommercial and unbiased information on raising young dairy calves. And since its humble beginnings in 1997, Calf Notes has grown to contain more than 500 different blog posts, manuscripts, articles, spreadsheets and other documents related to raising young dairy calves.
In the spirit of Calf Notes, the team at Calf Notes Consulting is excited to introduce a new initiative called Calf Notes Tools. Calf Notes Tools provides a series of executable programs that teach about different aspects of calf raising. These educational tools can help producers understand and manage their feeding programs more professionally. They are intended to help producers and their advisors understand the role of nutrition in proper calf management.
Initially, Calf Notes Tools will provide three separate tools, LPSolve, OsmoCalc, and NASCalf. Each of these executable programs can be downloaded and installed on your local machine and run from your desktop. Each program has its own web page, support information, and knowledge base. I’m sure you’ll enjoy using these programs and learn a lot from their application. And each program is free for noncommercial and educational uses.
As with the original Calf Notes, the goal is to provide the user with pertinent, useful and unbiased information on raising young dairy calves.
