How to Report a Bug vs. Ask a Question

Welcome! If something isn’t working as expected, this guide will help you decide where to post and what to include so you get the fastest, most useful response.

✅ Ask a Question in the Forum if:

    • You’re unsure how an input or option works

    • You’re trying to interpret results or outputs

    • The software runs, but the behavior isn’t clear

    • You want to confirm whether something is expected behavior

Post your question in the appropriate forum (OsmoCalc, NASCalf, or LPSolve), and include:

    • What you were trying to do

    • What you expected to happen

    • What you observed instead

    • Screenshots, if helpful

Discussion in the forum helps other users who may have the same question.

🐞 Submit a Bug Report if:

    • The program crashes or fails to start

    • You see error messages or unexpected exceptions

    • Results are clearly incorrect due to a software error

    • A feature worked previously and no longer does

Please use the Bug Report Form on the site for these issues.

    The form allows you to:

    • Attach crash reports or files

    • Provide structured information we need to diagnose the issue

    • Ensure the problem is tracked and addressed properly

You may still discuss the issue in the forum, but the form is the best way to report bugs.

🔍 Not Sure Which One It Is?

    If you’re uncertain:

    • Start with a forum post

    • We can help determine whether it’s a bug or expected behavior

    🧠 A Quick Reminder

These tools are provided as educational and decision-support software.

Models and calculations depend on assumptions and inputs, and unexpected results are not always software bugs.

Thanks for helping keep the forum useful and constructive for everyone.
